Bishop of Cametá
Ivanildo Oliveira Almeida was born on March 25, 1972, in Arame, in the Diocese of Imperatriz, in the State of Maranhão. He studied Philosophy and Theology at the *Instituto de Estudos Superiores do Maranhão* (IESMA) in São Luís (1994–2001). He was ordained a priest on December 22, 2001, for the Diocese of Imperatriz. He pursued further studies and held the following positions: Licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome (2008–2011); Parish Priest of *Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro*, *Santo Antônio de Pádua*, and the *Nossa Senhora de Fátima* Cathedral; Rector of the *Bom Pastor* Major Seminary; President of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the Ecclesiastical Province of São Luís do Maranhão; Professor of Canon Law; and, until now, Director General of IESMA. He completed his philosophy degree in 1997. In 2012, he began teaching Canon Law at IESMA. In 2013, he was appointed judicial vicar of the Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Maranhão. On April 12, 2023, he was appointed Bishop of Pinheiro, receiving episcopal ordination on June 17, 2023.
