Bishop of Córdoba
Bishop Eduardo Cirilo Carmona Ortega, C.O.R.C., Bishop of Córdoba, Veracruz, México, was born in Mexico City on 18 March 1959. He completed ecclesiastical studies at the seminary of the Workers of the Kingdom of Christ in Querétaro, Mexico, and at the major seminary of Toledo, Spain. He obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was ordained priest on 20 August 1983 for the Diocese of Tacámbaro, and in 1991 was incardinated in the Priestly Fraternity of the Workers of the Kingdom of Christ. He was prefect of discipline and then vice rector of the seminary of the Workers of the Kingdom of Christ in Querétaro. He was then appointed regional secretary and vice rector of the fraternity's seminary in Olías del Rey, Toledo, Spain. From 1991 to 1994 he served as rector of the same seminary. From 1994 to 1997 he was pastor in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, USA. In 1997 he was elected regional director for Mexico of the Priestly Fraternity of the Workers of the Kingdom of Christ, and in 2002 he was re-elected to the same office. On 8 November 2003 he was appointed first Bishop of Puerto Escondido, receiving episcopal ordination on 7 January 2004. Within the Mexican Episcopal Conference he is responsible for the pastoral dimension for lay ministries.
