Bishop of Zacatecas
Sigifredo Noriega Barceló was born in Granados, in the State of Sonora (Mexico), on October 12, 1951. He attended the minor seminary in Ciudad Obregón, then pursued philosophy studies at the Montezuma Seminary in the United States and theology studies at the diocesan seminary in Tijuana. Later, he obtained a licentiate in Moral Theology from the Alphonsian Academy in Rome. He was ordained a priest on October 7, 1976, and incardinated into the Diocese of Ciudad Obregón. As a priest, he held the following positions: parish priest; spiritual director and vice-rector of the minor seminary; prefect of studies at the major seminary; diocesan promoter of vocations; member of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, and the Board of Directors of La Salle University; and diocesan advisor for Family Ministry and the *Cursillos de Cristiandad* movement. From 2006 to 2007, he served as Vicar General of the Diocese of Ciudad Obregón. On January 26, 2007, he was appointed the first Bishop of Ensenada, receiving episcopal ordination on the following April 25.
