BLAZE is a Walking with Purpose ministry for 8th-12th grade girls that counteracts the way our society drives girls to question their IDENTITY, worth, and beauty.

During Children’s Liturgy of the Word, children are dismissed from the adult assembly to hear the Gospel at their level of understanding.

Edge is a dynamic, Christ-centered middle school program that incorporates fun and community-building activities with solid faith content and prayer experiences.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are confirmed adults, approved by the pastor, and serve others in a threefold way: assist in the distribution of Communion; take Communion to those unable to attend Mass; conduct Communion Service in the absence of a priest.
Family & Marriage
12 hours/month. Membership is open to all. Weekly practice is on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

12 hours/month. Membership is by interview for 6th Grade – Adults. Weekly practice is on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays before 11 a.m. Mass.
Social Justice & Outreach
Donated perishable food from our parishioners is collected to assist families in need. We coordinate with Social Services on a monthly basis.
Bereavement
This ministry offers hospitality resources for families that are preparing for the funeral of a loved one.
Health & Wellness
The ministers embody the care of the community for its sick members. Parishioners take the Eucharist and share scripture and prayer with those unable to come to church.
Other
These ministers extend themselves to those hospitalized. They share the Eucharist, scripture, prayer and “listen with the heart” to concerns of the patient.

Christian Formation Programs: Edge (grades 6 – 8) and Life Teen (grades 9 – 12):

Four groups meet monthly to reflect on Sunday Scriptures. The focus of this ministry is writing an opening commentary and Universal Prayer (formerly known as “Prayers of the Faithful”) for weekend Liturgy.

Our Liturgy Committee draws on the liturgical seasons of the Church to fashion celebrations of faith consistent with the liturgical norms of the Catholic Church.

Parishioners coordinate a schedule and provide home-delivered meals to the elderly and those convalescing.

Purificators are the linen cloths used to dry sacred vessels at liturgies. Laundering of about 30 purificators per week is done at home.

In thanksgiving for our many blessings, parishioners reach out to those in the community who are less fortunate during the holidays through a second collection which supports the preparation of one hundred Thanksgiving baskets.

Greet and welcome parishioners arriving for Liturgy as well as collect the offering of the people and assist those who bring forth the Eucharistic Gifts.

The Wellness Ministry within Pastoral Care focuses on the health of our parishioners in body, mind & spirit.

Every February St. Nicholas joins other churches throughout the city in opening the doors of the church to feed and shelter our brothers and sisters in need.

The goal of the St. Nicholas Youth Ministry is to bring youth into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
