Bishop of Orléans
Jacques André Blaquart is Bishop of Orléans, France. The official French profile names Jacques Blaquart as Bishop of Orléans since 2010. He was born on 19 December 1951, ordained a priest on 23 May 1982, appointed bishop on 28 June 2006, and consecrated bishop on 17 September 2006. He is the referring bishop for the Justice and Peace France Observatory. He is the son of Charles Blaquart, a tile industrialist, and Mrs. Blaquart, née Pierrette Rocher. His formation included one year in the Faculty of Law at Limoges, the seminary of Poitiers, and the seminary of Bordeaux. His ministries included vicar and then parish priest of Ruffec from 1987 to 1992; chaplain of middle schools and high schools and diocesan chaplain of the MRJC from 1989 to 1992; member of the priestly branch of the secular institute Notre-Dame-de-Vie from 1989; dean and parish priest of Barbezieux and high-school chaplain from 1992 to 2001; diocesan chaplain of the Guides de France from 1992 to 2004; episcopal vicar from 1994 to 2001; vicar general from 2001 to 2006; moderator of the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Angoulême from 2003 to 2006; auxiliary bishop of Bordeaux from 2006 to 2010; member of the Family and Society Council from 2019 to 2024; and president of Justice and Peace France from 2020 to 2025.
