Bishop Luigi Testore

The Pope has appointed Msgr. Luigi Testore—a priest of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Milan and until now the head of the “Blessed Paul VI” Pastoral Community in Milan—as Bishop of the Diocese of Acqui. Msgr. Testore was born in Costigliole d’Asti (in the province and diocese of Asti) on April 30, 1952. He moved to Saronno (Varese), where he completed his secondary education with a scientific specialization. In 1972, he entered the Archbishop's Seminary of Milan and, after completing the standard course of studies, obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology. He was ordained a priest on June 11, 1977. Msgr. Testore has held the following positions: language teacher at the Minor Seminary of Seveso (1977–1980); private secretary to Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini (1980–1986); deputy director of the Administrative Office (1986–1988); head of the Unified Accounting Office (1988–1995); director of the Administrative Office (1990–1995); diocesan bursar (1995–2012); episcopal vicar for the sector (1995–2012); president of Caritas Ambrosiana (2005–2013); parish priest of San Marco in Milan (2012–2016); and head of the “Blessed Paul VI” Pastoral Community (2017–present). He served as an administrator for the G.B. Guazzetti Foundation (a non-profit organization) and, from 2006 to 2013, coordinated pastoral care for the Milanese parishes of San Bartolomeo, Santa Maria Incoronata, San Simpliciano, and Santa Maria del Carmine. Furthermore, he assumed the presidency of various diocesan bodies, including the Council for the Diocesan Legacies Fund (1994–2006). Board of Directors of G.S.C. S.R.L. (1994–2008); Board of Directors of the *Opera Pia delle Chiese e Case Povere* (1995–2007); Technical Commission (1997–2001); Board of Directors of the Diocesan Work for the Preservation and Spread of the Faith (2001–2006), having previously served as its Director (1995–2001); Board of Directors of the Caritas Ambrosiana Foundation (2005–2013); Board of Directors of the Luigi Moneta Foundation (2006–2013). Finally, he was a member of various diocesan councils and commissions: the Presbyteral Council (1990–1995); the Council for Economic Affairs (1989–1995); the Episcopal Council (1995–2012); the Archbishop’s Commission for New Forms of Lay Ministry (1997–2006); the Congregation of Conservators of the Venerable Ambrosian Library (1995–1997 and 1998–2007); and the Board of Directors of the Carlo Maria Martini Foundation (2013–2016). On February 10, 1996, he was named a Prelate of Honour of His Holiness.
