Bishop of Cristalândia
Bishop Wellington de Queiroz Vieira, Bishop of Cristalândia, was born on July 11, 1968, in Tocantinópolis, in the Diocese of Tocantinópolis. He began his studies in philosophy at the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Archdiocesan Seminary in Brasília (1989-1990) and completed them at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he obtained a licentiate in philosophy (1992-1993). He studied theology at the São José Archdiocesan Seminary in Rio de Janeiro (1994-1996), and later obtained a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University (2010-2013). He was ordained a priest for Tocantinópolis on December 8, 1996. He then served as director of the São Miguel Arcanjo school in Xambioá (1999); parish priest of São Vicente de Paula in Araguaína (2000); diocesan bursar and chancellor (2001-2009); parish priest of São Sebastião in Araguaína (2004-2009); parish priest of São Paulo Apóstolo in Araguaína (2010-2016); and auditor judge of the diocesan ecclesiastical court (2013-2016). On November 16, 2016, he was appointed Prelate of Cristalândia. He received episcopal ordination on February 4, 2017, with Pedro Brito Guimarães as principal consecrator and Giovane Pereira de Melo and Miguel Ângelo Freitas Ribeiro as co-consecrators. On July 10, 2019, he was appointed Bishop of Cristalândia. His episcopal motto is "Misericors et justus".
