Bishop Orthasie Marcellin Herivonjilalaina

Orthasie Marcellin Herivonjilalaina was born on September 13, 1979, in Morarano Chrome (Madagascar), in the Diocese of Ambatondrazaka. After studying Philosophy at the Saint Paul Major Seminary and Theology at the Archbishop's Seminary of Reggio Calabria, he obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Pio XI Theological Institute and a Master's degree in Bioethics and Sexology in Messina. He was ordained a priest on January 21, 2006, for the Diocese of Ambatondrazaka. He has held the following positions and pursued further studies: Parochial Vicar of Santa Maria Maddalena in Campo Calabro, Italy (2006–2008); Rector of the Saint Pierre Minor Seminary in Ambatondrazaka (2008–2009); Doctorate in Foundations and Perspectives of a Culture of Unity at the Sophia University Institute in Loppiano; Parochial Vicar of Santa Maria Regina in Matassino and San Miniato in Montanino (2011–2015); Theology teacher at the Saint Jean Marie Vianney Major Seminary in Moramanga (2015–2021); and, since 2021, Rector and Prefect of Studies at the Saint François de Sales Philosophical Major Seminary in Toamasina.
