Bishop of Auki
Bishop Jacob Aba, S.M., Bishop of Auki, Solomon Islands, was born on 6 January 1976 in Matanganakafo, on the Island of Laita in the Solomon Islands. He studied philosophy and theology at the Catholic Theological Institute in Bomana, Port Moresby. After entering the Society of Mary and making religious profession in 2004, he was ordained a priest on 10 December 2009. He has held the following offices and undertaken further studies: parish vicar in Tanaghai from 2010 to 2011; parish priest of Wainoni, Makira, from 2012 to 2014; diploma in Human Development, Leadership, Formation and Community Building at Saint Anselm’s Catholic School in Kent, Great Britain, in 2017; formator at Marist College in Suva from 2017 to 2018; assistant for formation in the Marist novitiate in the Philippines from 2018 to 2021; director of Marist Farm, Chapline of RTC, from 2022; and, from 2023 until now, parish priest of Holy Name of Mary in Tanagai and member of the Provincial Council of the Society of Mary.
