Bishop of Autun (-Châlon-sur-Saône-Mâcon-Cluny)
Rivière was born in Brive, in the Diocese of Tulle, on September 14, 1954. He completed his primary and secondary education at the "Collège Stanislas" in Paris. Also in the French capital, he attended the "École Supérieure de Commerce" from 1973 to 1976. He subsequently worked as the administrative and financial manager of a graphic design company. In 1977, he joined the "Fraternité Monastique de Jérusalem" in Paris, where he underwent religious formation, later continuing it at the Fraternity's house in Marseille from 1979 to 1983. During this period (1981–1983), he studied philosophy at the "Faculté des Lettres" of the University of Aix-en-Provence. After leaving the "Fraternité Monastique de Jérusalem," he was ordained a priest and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Marseille on September 18, 1983. Sent to Paris by his Archbishop, he attended courses at the "Institut Supérieur de Liturgie" (1983–1985). He served in the following roles: 1985–1993: Vicar at the "Sainte Trinité" parish and chaplain of the "Lycée du Sacré-Cœur"; 1993–1996: Vicar at the La Ciotat parish and chaplain for middle and high schools. Since 1996, he has served as Episcopal Vicar for youth ministry and student chaplain at Luminy (Marseille), as well as coordinator of chaplains for students, high schools, and Catholic educational institutions.
