Emmanuel Dassi Youfang was born on August 7, 1967, in Baham, in the Diocese of Bafoussam. Before entering the seminary, he studied Zoology at the country's state university in Yaoundé. He subsequently pursued studies in philosophy and theology at the Paul VI Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Douala. He obtained a Licentiate in Fundamental Theology in 2012 from the École Cathédrale-Faculté Notre Dame in Paris. He has been a member of the Emmanuel Community since 1997. He was ordained a priest on June 16, 2001, and incardinated into the Diocese of Bafoussam. He subsequently held the following positions: 2001–2009: Parish Priest and Rector of the Marian Shrine; 2009–2010: Vicar General; 2010–2012: Theology studies in Paris; from 2012: Vicar General and Parish Priest.
