Bishop of Bayonne (-Lescar e Oloron)
Bishop Marc Marie Max Aillet, Bishop of Bayonne, France, has been Bishop of Bayonne since 2008. He was born on 17 April 1957. He was ordained a priest on 03 July 1982. He was appointed bishop on 15 October 2008 and consecrated bishop on 30 November 2008. He is the son of Jacques Aillet, a former officer, and of his mother, née Colette Étrillard. His formation included the Seminary of Genoa, Italy, followed by theology studies at the Faculty of Theology of Fribourg, Switzerland. His ministries included chaplain of the lycées and collèges of Saint-Raphaël; professor of moral theology and spiritual director at the diocesan seminary of Fréjus-Toulon from 1986 to 1992; rector of the formation house of the Community of Saint Martin in Genoa and then at Candé in the Diocese of Blois from 1992 to 1998; parish priest of the parish of Saint-Raphaël from 1998 to 2005; episcopal vicar for the deaneries of Fayence, Fréjus, and Saint-Tropez from 2001 to 2002; vicar general of the Diocese of Fréjus-Toulon from 2002 to 2008; titular canon of the cathedral chapter from 2003 to 2008; member of the Council for the Pastoral Care of Children and Young People from 2017 to 2023; and member of the Council for Liturgy and Sacramental Pastoral Care from 2023 to 2024.
