Bishop Renato Marangoni

Bishop Renato Marangoni, Bishop of Belluno-Feltre, was born on May 25, 1958, in Crespano del Grappa, in the province of Treviso and the Diocese of Padova. He entered the minor seminary of Thiene in 1969. After studying theology at the episcopal seminary of Padova, he attended the Pontifical Gregorian University, obtaining a doctorate in theology with a thesis on the ecclesiology of communion in Paul VI. He was ordained a priest for Padova on June 4, 1983, in Padova, by Bishop Filippo Franceschi. He then served as parochial vicar of the Carmine parish in Padova (1983-1985) and of San Gregorio Barbarico in Rome (1985-1987); assistant at the Villa Nazareth University Institute in Rome (1987-1992); assistant at the minor seminary of Tencarola and festive cooperator in the parish of San Bartolomeo in Gallio (1993-1995); vice-director of the Collegium Gregorianum of Padova and festive cooperator in the parish of Sant'Andrea Apostolo in Pontelongo (1995-2005); secretary of the commission for the ongoing formation of the clergy (2000-2003); episcopal delegate for family ministry and president of the commission for the family (2001-2008); moderator of the diocesan presbyteral council (2003-2008); and vice-director of the San Luca Institute for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy (2003-2012). From 2008 he served as episcopal vicar for the apostolate of the laity and honorary canon of the cathedral chapter, and from 2013 as a member by right of the diocesan presbyteral council and delegate president of the diocesan pastoral council. In 2012 he was secretary of the Second Ecclesial Convention of the Triveneto at Aquileia. On February 10, 2016, he was appointed Bishop of Belluno-Feltre. He received episcopal ordination on April 10, 2016, at Padova, with Claudio Cipolla as principal consecrator and Francesco Moraglia and Antonio Mattiazzo as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Belluno-Feltre on April 24, 2016.
