Bishop of Bonfim
Hernaldo Pinto Farias, S.S.S., was born on June 24, 1964, in Vitória da Conquista, in the archdiocese of the same name, in the State of Bahia. He completed his philosophy studies at the *Faculdades Associadas do Ipiranga* in São Paulo and his theology studies at the *Instituto Teológico São Paulo* (ITESP) in São Paulo. He earned a Licentiate in Dogmatic Theology with a specialization in Liturgy from the *Pontifícia Faculdade Nossa Senhora da Assunção* in São Paulo. Subsequently, he obtained a Licentiate and a Doctorate in Sacred Liturgy from the Pontifical Atheneum of Saint Anselm in Rome. He made his religious profession on January 25, 1988, in the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (Sacramentines) and was ordained a priest on July 18, 1992. During his priestly ministry, he served as a parochial vicar in the following parishes: Santa Ifigênia in São Paulo (SP), São Benedito in Fortaleza (CE), the Cathedral of Nossa Senhora da Boa Viagem in Belo Horizonte (MG), Santuário da Adoração in Sete Lagoas (MG), and Coração Eucarístico de Jesus in Caratinga (MG). Within his religious congregation, he held the following positions: formator; provincial treasurer; provincial councilor; provincial superior of the *Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe* Province (which includes the Sacramentine communities in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile); member of the *Centro Eucharistia* in Rome; and member of the International Finance Commission at the General Curia in Rome. In the academic field, he served as a professor of liturgy at various faculties, institutes, seminaries, and training centers; as a lecturer for liturgical training courses organized by the Conference of Religious of Brazil (CRB) and in various dioceses and parishes across Brazil; and as coordinator of the *Dom Clemente Isnard* Liturgy Center in São Paulo. Furthermore, he was a board member of the Association of Liturgists of Brazil (ASLI) and an advisor to the Episcopal Commission for Liturgy of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference (2011–2013).
