Bishop of Buta
Bishop Martin Banga Ayanyaki, O.S.A., Bishop of Buta, Democratic Republic of the Congo, was born on 1 December 1972 in Dungu, in the administrative province of Haut-Uélé, Democratic Republic of the Congo. After completing studies at the Saint Augustine Philosophate and theology at the Saint Eugène de Mazenod University in Kinshasa, he made solemn profession on 30 November 2002 and was ordained a priest on 28 August 2003 at Poko, diocese of Dungu-Doruma. He held the following offices and pursued further studies: assistant pastor at Poko, diocese of Doruma-Dungu, from 2003 to 2006; councilor of the Augustinian Vicariate and pastor at Poko from 2006 to 2010; regional vicar of the Order of Saint Augustine from 2010 to 2014; pastoral collaborator at the Convent of Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome from 2014 to 2020; and doctorate in Sociology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 2014 to 2020. From 2022 he has been regional vicar of the Order of Saint Augustine and professor of sociology and anthropology at the Saint Augustine University of Kinshasa.
