Archbishop of Calcutta
Archbishop Elias Frank, Archbishop of Calcutta, was born on August 15, 1962, in Bantwal, India, in the Diocese of Calcutta. He was ordained a priest for Calcutta on April 23, 1993, in Howrah. He was incardinated in Asansol on October 24, 1997. On July 3, 2023, he was appointed Bishop of Asansol. He received episcopal ordination on August 24, 2023, at Nuta, with Thomas D'Souza as principal consecrator and Cyprian Monis and Julius Marandi as co-consecrators. On June 28, 2025, he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Calcutta. He succeeded to the see as Archbishop of Calcutta on September 20, 2025.
