Bishop Jorge Enrique Izaguirre Rafael

Bishop Jorge Enrique Izaguirre was born on 14 January 1968 in Casma, Ancash, diocese of Chimbote, Peru. He gave his religious vows on 14 January 1996 and was ordained a priest on 15 February 1997. He studied philosophy at the Instituto Superior de Estudios Teológicos Juan XXIII in Lima, Peru, and theology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He was awarded a master’s diploma in pastoral theology from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Boston, United States of America. He has held the following offices: various roles in direct pastoral care and formation within his religious institute, including rector of the San José House of Formation of the Congregation of the Holy Cross in Canto Grande, diocese of Chosica (1997-1998); member of the board of the District of Peru of the Congregation of the Holy Cross; assistant to the superior (1999-2000); parish priest of El Señor de la Esperanza in Canto Grande, diocese of Chosica (2007-2012); general assistant of the Congregation of the Holy Cross; director of formation and superor of the International House of Formation of his Congregation in Santiago de Chile (2012-2015). On 11 May 2015 he was elected bishop prelate of Chuquibamba and received episcopal ordination on 10 July 2015.
