Prelate of Chota
Monsignor Villegas Suclupe, O.A.R., was born on February 9, 1967, in Lambayeque. He attended the San José National School in Lambayeque. In 1990, he obtained a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Chiclayo. After joining the Augustinian Recollects, he pursued philosophical studies (1995–1997). He subsequently completed his novitiate in Colombia (1998) and his theological studies (1999–2001) at the Pontifical and Civil Faculty of Theology in Lima. He made his solemn vows on March 19, 2002, and was ordained a priest on March 22, 2003. He has held the following positions: member of the Santa Rita Parish community in Lima and Promoter (Director) of the Santa Rita School (2003–2012); Parish Priest of Santa Mónica in Chota (2013–2018); and Provincial Vicar for Peru of the Augustinian Recollects (2018–2022).
