Bishop of Concordia
Bishop Gustavo Gabriel Zurbriggen, Bishop of Concordia, was born on November 26, 1963, in Curupaity, in the province of Santa Fe and the Diocese of Rafaela. He was formed at the seminary of Córdoba, where the seminarians of Rafaela then studied, and obtained the title of professor of religious sciences and a bachelor's degree in theology from the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. He was ordained a priest for Rafaela on October 26, 1990. After serving as parochial vicar in the parishes of Santa Catalina de Siena and Nuestra Señora de Fátima and in the cathedral of Rafaela, he obtained a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 1998. On returning to the diocese he was again parochial vicar of the cathedral and then parish priest of Santa Catalina de Siena (2000-2006). From 2006 he served as parish priest of the cathedral, professor of theology at the seminaries of Paraná and Córdoba, a member of the college of consultors, of the presbyteral council and of the team for the ongoing formation of the clergy, and coordinator of the diocesan pastoral council. On October 12, 2011, he was appointed Coadjutor Prelate of Deán Funes. He received episcopal ordination on December 9, 2011, at Rafaela, with Carlos María Franzini as principal consecrator and Aurelio José Kühn Hergenreder and Hugo Norberto Santiago as co-consecrators. He succeeded to the see as Prelate of Deán Funes on December 21, 2013. On June 21, 2023, he was appointed Bishop of Concordia, and he was installed on September 1, 2023.
