Bishop of Córdoba
Bishop Jesús Fernández González was born on 15 September 1955 in Selga de Ordán, Lèon. He was awarded a licentiate in psychology from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca. He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1980 in the diocese of Léon. He has held the following offices: bursar of Senra and Lazado, and in charge of five other towns (1980-1982); formator, professor and rector of the minor seminary (1987-1990); full professor of the Higher Centre of Theological Studies; formator of San Froilán Major Seminary (1997-2003), parish priest of Cuadros and parish administrator of Valsemana (1997-2003); episcopal vicar and vicar for the pastoral care of the clergy (2003-2010); vicar general of Léon, moderator of the Curia and consultant of the Pastoral Commission of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (2010-2013). On 9 November 2013 he was appointed titular bishop of Rotdon and auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, receiving episcopal consecration the following 8 February. From 8 June 2020 to the present, he has served as bishop of Astorga, Spain.
