Bishop of Castellaneta
The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Sabino Iannuzzi, O.F.M.—of the Franciscan Province of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Episcopal Vicar for Consecrated Life in the Archdiocese of Benevento, and Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation and Saint Anthony in Vitulano—as Bishop of Castellaneta. Msgr. Sabino Iannuzzi was born on August 24, 1969, in Avellino, within the province and archdiocese of the same name. After obtaining a diploma in accounting and commercial studies in Avellino, he was admitted as a postulant to the Province of the Friars Minor of Sannio and Irpinia; he began his novitiate on September 23, 1990, made his first religious profession the following year, and made his solemn profession on October 22, 1994. He was ordained a priest on June 24, 1995. In 2006, he earned a Master’s degree in the Management, Administration, and Control of Ecclesiastical Entities from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and subsequently attended an advanced training course for communicators and cultural animators organized by the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI). In 2008, he obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Theology, specializing in Pastoral Theology. He has held the following roles: Provincial Minister of the Franciscan Province of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Sannio-Irpinia (2007), a position for which he was reappointed for a second term; National Councilor, Vocation Animator, Secretary, and National Treasurer within the Conference of Provincial Ministers of the Order in Italy (COMPI)—serving as its President from 2013 to 2016—and President of the Union of Friars Minor of Europe (2015–2017). At the diocesan level, he has served as a Catholic Religious Education teacher in state schools and as Rector of the Diocesan Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague in Benevento; he is currently a member of the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, and the Board of Auditors for the Diocesan Institute for Clergy Support, as well as the Editor-in-Chief of *Voce Francescana*, the quarterly publication of the O.F.M. Province. of Sannio-Irpinia, Episcopal Vicar for Consecrated Life of the Archdiocese of Benevento, and Rector of the Basilica of the Most Holy Annunciation and Saint Anthony in Vitulano.
