Bishop of Cyangugu
Edouard Sinayobye was born on April 20, 1966, in the Gisagara District, within the Diocese of Butare. He attended the Saint Léon Minor Seminary in Kabgayi (1988–1993). He spent one year at the Rutengo Propaedeutic Seminary (1993–1994) and subsequently completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Nyakibanda Major Seminary (1994–2000). He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Butare on August 12, 2000. Following his ordination, he held the following positions and pursued further studies: Parochial Vicar of Butare Cathedral and Director of the Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission (2000–2005); Parish Priest of Gakoma and member of the Diocesan Finance Commission (2005–2008); Licentiate and Doctorate in Spiritual Theology at the Pontifical Theological Faculty and Pontifical Institute of Spirituality "Teresianum" in Rome (2008–2010 and 2010–2013); Director of Diocesan Caritas (2010–2011); and Diocesan Bursar (2011–2013). Since 2014, he has served as Rector of the Nyumba Propaedeutic Seminary, a lecturer in Spiritual Theology at the Nyakibanda Major Seminary and the Catholic University of Butare, Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for Vocations, and a member of the National Committee for Eucharistic Congresses.
