Bishop Joseph Indrias Rehmat

Bishop Joseph Indrias Rehmat, Bishop of Faisalabad, was born on July 1, 1966, at Okara, in the Diocese of Faisalabad. He entered the minor seminary of Faisalabad and in 1992 completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Christ the King major seminary in Karachi, and he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Faisalabad on September 25, 1992. He was parochial vicar at Chak 424 in Faisalabad from 1992 to 1995, and from 1995 to 2000 he studied moral theology at the Alphonsian Academy in Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in 2000. From that year he taught moral theology at the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi, and he was a formator at the major seminary of Karachi from 2000 to 2006, a missionary in the Diocese of Hyderabad in Pakistan from 2006 to 2008, and parish priest of the Sacred Heart parish in Karachi from 2009 to 2014. From 2014 he was dean of the National Catholic Institute of Theology in Karachi. On June 29, 2019, he was appointed Bishop of Faisalabad. He received episcopal ordination on September 13, 2019, with Joseph Coutts as principal consecrator and Christophe Zakhia El-Kassis and Joseph Arshad as co-consecrators.
