Bishop Stefano Manetti

Stefano Manetti was born in Florence on April 20, 1959. After completing his secondary education at the *Liceo Scientifico* in Scandicci, he entered the Florentine Archdiocesan Seminary in October 1978. He was ordained a priest on April 19, 1984. Following his ordination, he served as parochial vicar at the "Santa Maria" parish in Coverciano from July 1984 to September 1987, and as ecclesiastical assistant to the San Michele Youth Community from September 1987 to September 1995. During those same years, he served as ecclesiastical assistant for the Youth Section of Italian Catholic Action, moving to the Adult Section of the same association in January 1999. Appointed parish priest of "San Tommaso" in Certaldo in September 1995, he served there until September 2002; during this period, he also taught Catholic religion in public schools. In October 2002, he was appointed spiritual director of the Archdiocesan Major Seminary and, concurrently, a canon of the Chapter of the Basilica of San Lorenzo. Since September 2005, he has served as rector of the Archdiocesan Major Seminary and head of the Diocesan Vocations Center. In December 2009, he was appointed a canon of the Metropolitan Chapter of Santa Maria del Fiore, becoming an honorary canon of the Chapter of San Lorenzo. He has been a member of the Presbyteral Council since January 1995 and has served as its coordinator from October 2008 to the present. He has also been a member of the College of Consultors since February 2009.
