Gabriele Marchesi was born on September 16, 1953, in Incisa Valdarno, in the Diocese of Fiesole (Italy). He pursued his studies in philosophy at the Diocesan Seminary of Fiesole (1972–1975) and in theology at the *Studio Teologico Fiorentino* (1975–1978). On July 6, 1978, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Fiesole, where he served as a parochial vicar (1978–1986) and as pastor of the Santa Maria del Giglio parish in Montevarchi (1986–1997) and the San Giovanni Battista parish in Contea (1997–2003); he also served as Director of the Diocesan Missionary Office and as a member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors. Since 2003, he has been serving as a *fidei donum* priest in Brazil—specifically in the Diocese of Viana, in the State of Maranhão—where he currently holds the roles of pastor of the São Pedro Apóstolo e Nossa Senhora do Rosário parish, Pastoral Coordinator, and Episcopal Vicar.
