Bishop of Gibraltar
Bishop Charles Azzopardi, Bishop of Gibraltar, was born in Gibraltar on 20 April 1962. After work experience, he completed ecclesiastical formation studies at New Creation in Liverpool, United Kingdom, the Miltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy in Dublin, Ireland, and the Pontifical Urban College de Propaganda Fide in Rome. On 6 August 1992 he received priestly ordination for the clergy of the diocese of Gibraltar. He held the following offices: parochial vicar of the Cathedral of Saint Mary the Crowned from 1992 to 1998; school chaplain at Saint Anne's and Notre Dame Primary School, Westside and Bayside Comprehensive Secondary Schools, from 1998 to 2010. From 1998 to the date of the source he was pastor of Saint Teresa, rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe, and director of Nazareth House and the soup kitchen.
