Bishop of Guadix
Francisco Jesús Orozco was born in Villafranca de Córdoba on April 23, 1970. He pursued his ecclesiastical studies at the diocesan seminary of Córdoba, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas in Madrid, an institution to which the Córdoba seminary was affiliated. Msgr. Francisco Orozco was ordained a priest on July 9, 1995. He holds a Licentiate in Fundamental Theology from the Lateran University in Rome (1998–2000) and a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology from the same university. He has carried out his priestly ministry in the Diocese of Córdoba, holding the following positions: parochial vicar of San Francisco Solano in Montilla and professor of Liturgy at the diocesan seminary (1995–1996); diocesan delegate for youth ministry (1996–1998); vice-rector of the minor seminary (2003–2007); and chaplain of the Sacred Heart Monastery (2003–2007). Since 2007, he has served as territorial episcopal vicar of La Campiña; parish priest of Santo Domingo and San Mateo Apóstol in Lucena; rector of the Sanctuary of María Santísima de Araceli in Lucena; member of the Presbyteral Council; secretary and member of the College of Consultors; and professor of Fundamental Theology, Phenomenology and History of Religions, Anthropology, and Eschatology at the San Pelagio Major Seminary and the "Beata Victoria Díez" Higher Institute of Religious Sciences. In 2011, he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Córdoba, and in 2012, parish priest of San Miguel and Nuestra Señora de la Merced in Córdoba. His appointment as Bishop of Guadix was announced on October 30, 2018. He received episcopal ordination on December 22, 2018.
