Bishop Angelo Pagano

Angelo Pagano, O.F.M. Cap., was born on January 15, 1954, in Asmara (Eritrea)—at that time part of Ethiopia—to Italian parents who had emigrated there. In 1973, having completed his primary and secondary education, he obtained a diploma in construction. At the age of 19, he returned to Italy with his family. At 25, he joined the Capuchin Friars, whom he had met in Asmara. He made his first vows on September 8, 1981, and his solemn vows on April 14. Finally, he was ordained a priest on June 25, 1988. Shortly thereafter, at his own request, he was sent to Cameroon as a missionary. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Shisong parish in the Diocese of Kumbo (1989–1992); Parish Priest of the same Shisong parish community (1992–2003); President of the Conference of Capuchins of West Africa (1988–2000); first Custos of the Capuchin Custody of Cameroon, following the promotion of the Capuchin Delegation of Cameroon to a Custody (1993–2000); member of the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Kumbo (1996–2003); Vice-Provincial of the Capuchin Vice-Province in Ethiopia (2003–2009); and Superior of the Capuchin Custody of Yaoundé, Cameroon (2009–2014). Since 2015, he has served as Project Manager for the Capuchin Custody in Cameroon and as Parish Priest in Shisong.
