Bishop of Idiofa
José Moko Ekanga, a Sulpician, was born on July 18, 1958, in Kinshasa, within the Archdiocese of Kinshasa. After completing primary school in Kinshasa and secondary school at the Selembao Literary Institute, he studied philosophy at St. Kaggwa Seminary and theology at the Catholic Faculties of Kinshasa (1979–1986), earning a Licentiate in Biblical Theology. On August 1, 1986, he was ordained a priest for the Society of Saint Sulpice and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Kinshasa. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1986–1988: Spiritual Director at St. Kaggwa Major Seminary (Philosophy); 1988–1989: resident at the Saint Sulpice Community in France; 1989–1996: formator at St. Kaggwa Seminary; 1993–1997: President of the Kinshasa/Gombe Clergy Assembly; 1996–1998: Pastor of St. Gyavira Parish in Kinshasa; 1999–2005: doctoral studies in Sacred Scripture in Lyon and professor at St. Gal Seminary in Benin; 2005–2007: Pastor of St. Anne Parish, Kinshasa; 2007–2008: Pastor of "Notre Dame" Cathedral in Kinshasa. Since 2008, he has served as Rector of the "Jean XXIII" University Seminary in Kinshasa. For several years, he has also been a member of the Presbyteral Council of Kinshasa.
