Neri José Tondello was born on March 24, 1964, in Antônio Prado, in the Diocese of Caxias do Sul. He obtained a Licentiate in Philosophy from the University of Caxias do Sul and a Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre. He was ordained a priest on April 18, 1993, for the Diocese of Caxias do Sul. He has served as a parochial vicar at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, rector of the propaedeutic seminary, and spiritual director at various seminaries. Since 2002, he has served as a *fidei donum* priest in the Diocese of Juína. He is currently the rector of the Major Seminary based in Cuiabá and a professor of philosophy and theology at SEDAC (*Studium Eclesiástico Dom Aquino Corrêa*) in the Archdiocese of Cuiabá.
