Bishop of Kasese
Acquirino Francis Kibira was born on April 16, 1958, in the village of Kigoto-Bulyansungwe, Kamwenge District, in the Diocese of Fort Portal. He studied philosophy at Katigondo National Major Seminary in Masaka (1977–1980) and theology at St. Mary’s National Major Seminary in Ggaba, Kampala (1981–1984). He was ordained a priest on September 23, 1984, and is incardinated in the Diocese of Fort Portal. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1984–1985: Assistant at Bukwali Parish, Fort Portal; 1985–1987: Lecturer at Katigondo National Major Seminary, Masaka; 1987–1991: Studies in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, residing at the Pontifical College of St. Paul; 1991–1995: Person in charge of the ongoing formation of the clergy; 1992–1995: Lecturer and Dean of Studies at St. Paul’s National Seminary, Kinyamasika, Fort Portal; from 1995: Rector of St. Paul’s National Seminary, Kinyamasika, Fort Portal.
