Archbishop Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye

Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye was born on May 27, 1960, in Emenaa, in the Archdiocese of Kumasi. He studied philosophy at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary in Cape Coast. He obtained a Licentiate in Biblical Theology from the *Facultés Catholiques de Kinshasa* in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and a Doctorate in the History of Religions and Religious Anthropology in Paris, attending the *Institut Catholique*, the Sorbonne, and the University of Paris IV. He was ordained a priest on July 16, 1988, and incardinated into the then Diocese of Kumasi. He served as a parochial vicar, chaplain to youth movements, and deputy director of the pastoral center, as well as major-domo at the Bishop's House (1989–92); professor at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary in Pedu, Cape Coast (1992–94); a student for advanced studies in Paris (1994–99); and professor and vice-rector at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary (1999–2002).
