Archbishop Alick Banda, Archbishop of Lusaka, Zambia, was born on 15 November 1963 in Mufulira, in the diocese of Ndola. After primary and middle school in Mufulira and secondary school in Ndola, he studied philosophy and theology in the national seminaries of Zambia, Saint Augustine and Saint Dominic. He was ordained a priest on 7 August 1994. After ordination, he held the following ministries: from 1995 to 1997, parochial vicar of Saint Joseph in Kitwe and personal secretary of the bishop, Bishop Dennis De Jong; from 1997 to 2002, studies for the doctorate in Theology at Sankt Georgen University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany; from 2002 to 2004, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul in Chingola. From 2005 he served as chancellor of the diocese of Ndola, lecturer in Canon Law in the Redemptoris Mater Seminary of Ndola, and at the Kalundu Study Centre in Lusaka for religious women of English-speaking African countries.
