Bishop of Macapá
Bishop Antônio de Assis Ribeiro, S.D.B., Bishop of Macapá, was born on July 26, 1966, in Capitão Poço, Pará, Brazil, in the Prelature of Guamá. He made his perpetual profession on January 10, 1987. He was ordained a deacon on June 25, 1994. He was ordained a priest for the same institute on June 17, 1995, in Ourém. On June 28, 2017, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Babra and Auxiliary Bishop of Belém do Pará. He received episcopal ordination on September 2, 2017, at Ourém, with Alberto Taveira Corrêa as principal consecrator and Franz Josef Meinrad Merkel and Flávio Giovenale S.D.B. as co-consecrators. On December 18, 2024, he was appointed Bishop of Macapá. He was installed as Bishop of Macapá on February 26, 2025. He is a member of Salesians of Saint John Bosco.
