Fr. Edwin Angot de la Peña, MSP, was born in San Juan, in the Diocese of Dumaguete, on April 5, 1954. After completing his primary and secondary education, he pursued philosophical studies at San Carlos Seminary in Cebu. From 1976 to 1980, he undertook theology courses at the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay. From 1995 to 1998, he pursued a specialization in spiritual theology at the Gregorian University. He was ordained a priest on April 22, 1981. He served in the following roles: pastoral work in the Prelature of Marawi (1981–1983); Acting Rector of the Tagaytay Seminary (1983–1984); MSP Moderator (1984–1988); Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Antipolo (1988–1989); ministry in the Archdiocese of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (1989–1995); Director of the College House of Formation in Mandaluyong; and Vice Superior General of the Missionary Society of the Philippines and Rector of the Society's seminary in Tagaytay (1999–2000). Since June 23, 2000, he has served as Prelate of the Territorial Prelature of Marawi.
