Bishop of Maumere
Bishop Ewaldus Martinus Sedu, Bishop of Maumere, was born on July 30, 1963, in Bajawa, in the Archdiocese of Ende. After attending the minor seminary of Mataloko, he completed his philosophical and theological studies at the School of Philosophy and Theology while residing at the St. Peter Interdiocesan Major Seminary at Ritapiret. He was ordained a priest for Ende on July 7, 1991, and was incardinated in Maumere on December 14, 2005, at the erection of that diocese. He served as parochial vicar of St. Joseph at Maumere (1991-1993); parish priest of Mary Mother of Carmel at Wolofeo (1993-1995); parish priest of St. Joseph at Maumere and head of the catechetical commission of Maumere (1995-1997); a student for a licentiate in pedagogy at the Salesianum in Rome (1997-2001); lecturer and formator at the St. Peter Interdiocesan Major Seminary at Ritapiret (2001-2009); and rector of the same seminary (2010-2015). From 2015 he served as vicar general of Maumere. On July 14, 2018, he was appointed Bishop of Maumere. He received episcopal ordination on September 26, 2018, at Maumere, with Gerulfus Kherubim Pareira as principal consecrator and Vincentius Sensi Potokota and Franciscus Kopong Kung as co-consecrators.
