Bishop of Mbalmayo
Rev. Joseph Marie Ndi-Okalla was born on November 21, 1957, in Douala, in the Archdiocese of the same name. After his primary education, he entered the Minor Seminary of Mbalmayo. He pursued philosophy courses for only one year at the *Notre Dame de l’Immaculée Conception* Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Nkolbison, Yaoundé. Subsequently, he was sent to continue his formation at the *Séminaire Universitaire (des Carmes)* of the *Institut Catholique de Paris*. He was ordained a priest on August 13, 1983, and incardinated into the Diocese of Mbalmayo. He continued his studies in France at the *Institut Catholique de Paris* and the Sorbonne University, studying Theology and History and Civilization respectively, and obtained a *Maîtrise* in Biblical and Systematic Theology. He then moved to the University of Bonn, where he earned a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology. He has held the following positions: parochial vicar; associate vicar for university pastoral care; lecturer in Missiology; Director of Studies at the Interdiocesan Major Seminary; and person in charge of the ongoing formation of the clergy. Since 2011, he has served as Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Central Africa (Yaoundé) and Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith.
