Bishop of Mogi das Cruzes
Pedro Luiz Stringhini was born on August 17, 1953, in Laranjal Paulista, in the Archdiocese of Botucatu. He pursued his philosophy studies at the "Nossa Senhora Medianeira" Faculty and his theology studies at the Pontifical "Faculdade Nossa Senhora da Assunção." He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Letters from the "Faculdade Anchieta" in São Paulo (1972–1974) and a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1986–1990). He was ordained a priest on August 9, 1980, and incardinated into the clergy of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, where he held the following positions: parochial vicar and parish priest of "São Mateus" Parish (1980–1983), coordinator of the "São Mateus" sector of the Belém Episcopal Region (1980–1983), rector of the Archdiocesan Seminary of Philosophy (1984–1986), professor of Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Faculty "Nossa Senhora da Assunção," and parish priest of "Nossa Senhora da Conceição" Parish (1998–2001). On January 3, 2001, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Ita and Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, receiving episcopal ordination on March 10 of that year. He served as Episcopal Vicar for the Belém Region of the Archdiocese of São Paulo (2001–2009), President of the Episcopal Commission for the Service of Charity, Justice, and Peace, and a member of the Permanent Pastoral Council of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (2007–2011). On December 30, 2009, he was appointed Bishop of Franca.
