Bishop Georges Bizimana

Georges Bizimana is Bishop of Ngozi, Burundi. He was born on 12 March 1965 in Buraniro, Diocese of Ngozi. He completed formation in philosophy and theology at the major seminary of Bujumbura. He was ordained a priest on 20 August 1994. He later obtained a doctorate in moral theology in Rome. After priestly ordination he held the following offices: 1994-1997, formator at the minor seminary of Mureke; 1997-2001, parochial vicar at Gasenyi; 2001-2002, parish priest of Mubuga; 2002-2004, chancellor of the diocese and vocations animator; 2004-2008, studies for the doctorate in moral theology at the Alphonsianum in Rome, residing at the Belgian College; 2008-2010, professor at the Jean Paul II Major Theological Seminary of Gitega; and from 2010, rector of the same seminary.
