Bishop of Nice
Bishop Jean-Philippe Paul Nault, Bishop of Nice, was born on April 13, 1965, in Paris. After secondary and university studies, which he concluded with two licences, in agricultural engineering and in applied mathematics, and a diploma of advanced studies in artificial intelligence, he entered the seminary of the Society of Jean-Marie Vianney at Ars. He was then sent to the Pontifical French Seminary in Rome and continued his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, concluding them with a licentiate in theology. He was ordained a priest on July 5, 1998, for the Diocese of Belley-Ars, and he is a member of the Society of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney. He was assistant director of the shrine of Ars from 1999 to 2000 and its director from 2000 to 2012, and from 2012 he was parish priest of Notre-Dame de Bourg and dean of Bourg-en-Bresse, in the Diocese of Belley-Ars. On November 7, 2014, he was appointed Bishop of Digne. He received episcopal ordination on January 17, 2015, at Digne-les-Bains, with Georges Paul Pontier as principal consecrator and Pascal Marie Roland and Olivier Jacques Marie de Germay as co-consecrators. Within the French bishops' conference he is a member of the studies and projects committee. On March 9, 2022, he was appointed Bishop of Nice, and he was installed on May 8, 2022.
