Bishop of Nkongsamba
Dieudonné Espoir Atangana is Bishop of Nkongsamba, Cameroon. Dieudonné Espoir Atangana was born on 20 March 1958 in Ngongo, then in the Archdiocese of Yaoundé and currently in the Diocese of Obala. He studied philosophy and theology in his homeland at Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception Major Seminary in Yaoundé. He obtained a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 21 June 1986 and incardinated in the Archdiocese of Yaoundé before passing, after its division in 1987, to the Diocese of Obala. After priestly ordination he held the following positions: in 1986-1987, parochial vicar; in 1987-1993, studies in Rome for the doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, while residing at the Pontifical College of Saint Peter the Apostle; in 1993-2001, professor and formator at Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Yaoundé; in 2001-2002, vice rector of Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Yaoundé; in 2002-2008, rector of Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Yaoundé; and in 2008-2011, rector of Notre Dame de l'Espérance Seminary in Bertoua. From 2011, he was spending a sabbatical year and serving in various parishes of Obala.
