Bishop of Noto
Msgr. Salvatore Rumeo was born on 23 May 1966 in Caltanisetta. He entered the minor seminary of Caltanisetta, and obtained a baccalaureate in sacred theology from the Msgr. G. Guttadauro Theological Institute of Caltanissetta in 1990. He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1990 for the diocese of Caltanissetta. In 1997 he was awarded a licentiate in theology with a specialization in catechetics from the Saint Thomas Theological Institute in Messina and, in 2006, a doctorate in sacred theology at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome. He has held the following offices: parish vicar of the parishes of Santa Lucia in Caltanisetta, Chiesa Madre in San Cataldo, San Giuseppe and Santa Flavia in Caltanisetta (1990-2000); diocesan assistant of the Youth Sector of Catholic Action (1994-2006); director of the diocesan office of youth pastoral ministry (1995-2007); AGESCI ecclesiastical assistant (1994-2013); since 2000, parish priest of Sacro Cuore in Caltanisetta; since 2000, teacher of catechetics and pastoral theology at the Msgr. G. Guttadauro Theological Institute of Caltanissetta; since 2007, director of the diocesan Catechistic Office and of the office of Teaching of Catholic Religion; since 2016, teacher of youth pastoral ministry and sociology of youth for the licentiate in theology at the Saint Thomas Theological Institute in Messina; teacher of pastoral theology at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sicily in Palermo (2019-2021); and since 2019, director of the diocesan library of the episcopal seminary.
