Archbishop Jorge Alberto Ossa Soto

Bishop Jorge Alberto Ossa Soto of Santa Rosa de Osos as archbishop of Nueva Pamplona, Colombia. Archbishop-elect Jorge Alberto Ossa Soto was born in El Carmen de Viboral, in the diocese of Sonsón-Rionegro, on 29 July 1956. He carried out his priestly studies in the Saint Pius X major seminary, in the diocese of Istmina-Tadó. He obtained a licentiate in dogmatic theology from the Catholic University of Innsbruck. He was ordained as a priest on 23 May 1982, for the clergy of the diocese of Istmina-Tadó. As a priest he has held the following pastoral offices: parish vicar, parish priest of the Cathedral, diocesan bursar, head of social projects for the diocese, parish priest of the El Sagrado Corazón de Jesús parish in Andagoya, parish priest of the San Francisca Solano parish, rector of the Saint Pius X major seminary, and vicar general. On 21 January he was appointed as bishop of Florencia and received episcopal consecration the following 1 March. On 15 July 2011 he was appointed as bishop of Santa Rosa de Osos.
