Bishop Raffaele De Angelis

The Holy Father has appointed Papàs Raffaele De Angelis—a priest of the Eparchy of Lungro of the Italo-Albanians and until now the parish priest of San Giovanni Battista in Acquaformosa—as Bishop of the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi in Sicily. H.E. Msgr. Raffaele De Angelis was born on October 24, 1979, in Castrovillari, Italy. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, obtaining a Doctorate in Moral Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Eparchy of Lungro of the Italo-Albanians in 2006. He has held the following positions: Vice-Rector of the Eparchial Seminary in Cosenza; Parochial Vicar of SS. Salvatore in Cosenza; Eparchial Bursar and member of the Eparchial Council for Economic Affairs; member of the Eparchial Presbyteral Council and the Regional Presbyteral Council; Unified Assistant for Catholic Action and contact person for the protection of minors; lecturer in Fundamental Moral Theology at the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of the Archdiocese of Cosenza; and teacher at the “San Francesco di Paola” Theological Institute of the Pontifical Regional Seminary in Catanzaro. Since 2010, he has served as parish priest of San Giovanni Battista in Acquaformosa, Italy.
