Bishop of Port-Gentil
Euzébius Chinekezy Ogbonna Managwu was born on December 13, 1959, in N’Djamena, Chad, to Nigerian parents. As a child, he emigrated with his family to Gabon, where he grew up and was educated within Gabonese culture. He attended Catholic schools in Libreville and also studied for a time at the local state university. He subsequently studied at the Saint Jean Minor Seminary in Libreville and, from 1985 to 1992, at the Cardinal Emile Biayenda Major Seminary in Brazzaville. He was ordained a priest on November 1, 1992, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Libreville. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1992–1993: Parochial Vicar of Notre Dame des Victoires, Libreville; 1993–1996: Parish Priest of Saint Pierre, Libreville; 1996–1997: Spiritual Director of the Saint Jean Minor Seminary, Libreville; 1997–1998: Rector of the same Saint Jean Minor Seminary, Libreville; 1994–1998: Episcopal Vicar of the Archdiocese of Libreville; 1998–2001: Licentiate in Spiritual Theology at the Teresianum, Rome; 2001–2002: Formation at the Foyer de Charité, Châteauneuf-de-Gallaume (France); 2002–2003: Parish Priest of Saint André, Libreville; 2003–2006: Parish Priest of the Libreville Cathedral; 2006–2010: Parish Priest of Notre Dame des Apôtres, on the outskirts of Libreville, and Dean of Libreville-South. Since 2010, he has served as Parish Priest of Notre Dame de l’Ogooué in Lambaréné and as Episcopal Vicar of the Archdiocese of Libreville.
