Bishop of Purwokerto
Bishop Christophorus Tri Harsono, Bishop of Purwokerto, was born on January 18, 1966, in Bogor, West Java, in the Diocese of Bogor. After attending the Stella Maris Minor Seminary in Bogor, he completed his philosophical and theological studies at the Catholic University of Bandung. He was ordained a priest for Bogor on February 5, 1995. He then served as formator at the minor seminary of Bogor, with a Sunday pastoral assignment in the parish of Rangkas Bitung (1996-1998); studied for a licentiate in Islamic studies at the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies in Rome, having spent his first academic year in Cairo at the Dar Comboni Arabic Study Center (1998-2001); and served as rector and formator of the major seminary of Bandung and lecturer in Islamic studies in the Faculty of Philosophy of Parahyangan Catholic University, as well as in Catholic religion and comparative religion in its general studies programme (2001-2014). He was a member of the West Java Forum for Religious Harmony (2007-2014), and from 2014 vicar general of the Diocese of Bogor. He has also been a visiting lecturer at the state Islamic university of Bandung, served for three years on the episcopal conference commissions for interreligious dialogue and for seminaries, and served as president of the diocesan commission for interreligious dialogue in Bogor. On July 14, 2018, he was appointed Bishop of Purwokerto. He received episcopal ordination on October 16, 2018, at Purwokerto, with Robertus Rubiyatmoko as principal consecrator and Henricus Pidyarto Gunawan and Paskalis Bruno Syukur as co-consecrators. On January 19, 2026, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Bogor.
