Bishop of Rustenburg
Robert Mogapi Mphiwe was born on March 14, 1972, in Pretoria. After attending St. Peter’s Seminary in Garsfontein for his philosophy studies (1990–1992), he entered St. John Vianney Seminary NPC in Pretoria for theology courses (1993–1996). He obtained a Licentiate in Liturgy from the Pontifical Atheneum of St. Anselm in Rome. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Pretoria on November 1, 1997. He has held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of St. Kizito in Marapyane (1997–1999); lecturer and formator at St. Peter’s Seminary in Garsfontein (2000–2001 and 2005–2008); Parish Priest of St. Anne’s in Atteridgeville (2009–2010); Parish Priest of St. Thomas More in Centurion (2011–present); and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Pretoria (2015–present).
