Archbishop of Salta
Archbishop Mario Antonio Cargnello, Archbishop of Salta, was born on March 20, 1952, in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Argentina, in the Diocese of Catamarca. He was ordained a priest for Catamarca on November 8, 1975, in Catamarca. On April 7, 1994, he was appointed Bishop of Orán. He received episcopal ordination on June 24, 1994, with Elmer Osmar Ramón Miani as principal consecrator and Moisés Julio Blanchoud and Gerardo Eusebio Sueldo as co-consecrators. He was installed as Bishop of Orán on July 16, 1994. On June 24, 1998, he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Salta. He was installed as Coadjutor Archbishop of Salta on September 3, 1998. He succeeded to the see as Archbishop of Salta on August 6, 1999.
