Archbishop Pasquale Cascio

Pasquale Cascio is Archbishop of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi-Conza-Nusco-Bisaccia, Italy. He was born in Castelcivita, province of Salerno and Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro, on 29 November 1957, the second of four children. After entering the diocesan seminary, he followed formation for the priesthood first at the Pio XI Seminary in Salerno and then, as a student of the Almo Collegio Capranica in Rome, attended philosophy and theology courses at the Pontifical Gregorian University and obtained a licentiate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute. He was ordained priest on 23 July 1983 for the Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro. After priestly ordination he held the following pastoral offices and responsibilities: teacher at the Institute of Religious Sciences of Teggiano (1988-2007); from 1984, pastor of San Giovanni Battista in Terranova di Sicignano degli Alburni; from 1991, also pastor of San Nicola in Controne; vicar forane for the Alburni area; director of the diocesan technical office; and member of the presbyteral council and the college of consultors. He has also taught Sacred Scripture at the Theological Institute of Basilicata in Potenza and at the Giovanni Paolo II Metropolitan Seminary in Salerno, and in the past also at the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in Vallo della Lucania.
