Archbishop of Shkodrë-Pult
Giovanni Peragine, B., was born in Altamura (Italy) on June 25, 1965. He entered the Apostolic School of the Barnabite Fathers in 1976. On June 15, 2017, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Fenice and Apostolic Administrator of Southern Albania. He received episcopal consecration on September 7, 2017. He pursued philosophical and theological studies at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, completing them with a Licentiate in Biblical Theology. On November 17, 1991, he made his solemn profession in the Congregation of the Clerics Regular of Saint Paul (Barnabites) in Rome, and on March 20, 1993, he was ordained a priest. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: parochial vicar and coordinator of youth activities at the Mother of Divine Providence Parish in Florence, and religion teacher at the Barnabite Fathers' *Alla Querce* College. In 1998, he was sent as a missionary to Albania, where he exercised his ministry at the Saint Nicholas Parish in Milot and served as the person in charge of formation at his Congregation's local seminary. From 2002, he served as parish priest of Saint Nicholas in Milot and as Dean of the northern zone of the Archdiocese of Tiranë–Durrës. He served as a consultor to the Provincial Council of the Barnabite Fathers for the Central-Southern Italy Province. From 2008 to 2017, he was President of the Albanian Conference of Major Superiors. From 2009 to 2012, he served as Provincial Vicar of the Barnabite Fathers' Central-Southern Province. From 2009 to 2018, he was President of the Union of European Conferences of Major Superiors. He is currently the Secretary General of the Albanian Episcopal Conference.
